Absolutely. I was in the biggest MayDay protest with most arrests in U.S. history. It barely made the news. (probably fear that it would incite more widespread activity?) I was at an anti-abortion rally in St Paul with 5000 people and the local papers did not even cover it. It was an all-day ecumenical event. By ignoring it in the news, even with a national speaker, it never happened.
