He climbed out of the cavern, a stale taste in his mouth.
His bulbous bucolic nose startled even me.

Stonefaced politicians and huddled masses gathered,
Reaping stolen scratches of limelight
Detached from their utopian dreams.

Clearly in a state of decline, his once blazing
but now glazed eyes darted wildly,
without destination.

Dribbles of drool seeped from the corners of his mouth.

Pausing to survey the blasted landscape, he finds
no landing place for his gaze.
