POETRY CORNER
I Am You
I sit and stare
straight ahead into air
looking through dark eyes
unsmiling
my mouth compressed
my head tilted at an angle
my posture slouched
my skin dark
my heart weathered
my rough hands worn
my features course
my tattoos faded
my blood burning
my eyes taking in the world about me
assessing without ceasing, wary like a cat.
