Interesting… contrasting the two in one…. Have read much Twain including both the travel books you describe, with his sometimes hilarious observations… And all of the autobiographies as well, recited to a scribe while “lingering”…

Over the course of a lifetime I’ve found his pithy quotes useful on many occasions, and shared a few on this Medium post.

I don’t know if you read audio books, but my favorite “reader” (narrator) of audio books is Grover Gardner and his reading of Twain’s autobiography is exceptionally good.
