It’s all in what one is trying to accomplish. I frequently interview interesting people and in the beginning (I have been blogging daily since 2007) I would break a long interview into smaller segments. My “ideal leangth” I told myself, was 800 words, the length of a typical magazine column or Op-Ed piece. (I have been writing for print since early 1980s) … What I found, however, is that the interviews were of a whole piece and seemed they should be on one blog post or story. My longest was an interview of 4000 words and it got lots of reads — someone from Netherlands who was addressing some conspiracy things involving the Beatles.

Anyways, we learn as we go…. and yes, people have short attention spans. Content is King, not some formula imposed by so-called experts.
