One of the books I found most helpful when I was young was What Color Is Your Parachute? The exercises in the back help you identify what you skills are, what kinds of things make you happy, what kinds of environments.
We’re all different. Some people want to work outside. Some want to work in an office and hear the chatter and be part of the tribe. Some want to shut the door or tell everyone to be quiet. Some have their batteries re-charged by interaction with others and some re-charge by means of solitude. (A long walk with the dog.)
I’ve been self-employed and worked alone and have spent much of my career in an office. Each has its pros and cons. A steady paycheck is nice, but you sacrifice something for that, too.
Sounds like you have been learning a lot of good lessons. Life is long. Keep adding to your experience and increase your value, either to your clients or your next employer.
