There are many issues at work all the way back to early education. The education system is always about having kids “pass”… not “learn.” Kids go to college and do not know how to write a paper so they have to start freshman year with remedial English. If learning the material were the standard, too many kids would fail, so we pass them along unprepared. Kids learn early on that the only thing that matters is passing the test, not really getting educated. And they are told that if they get good grades it will make them more marketable after they graduate.

So, all the real needs we have in the workplace? We struggle to find suitable talent because the whole system has cancer.

Alas… am concerned. If we don’t talk about it, can’t talk about it, how will we truly write the correct prescription?
