DYLANESQUE
Wilde Observations #15
A tossed salad of poetry, art and ideas.

“Be warned in time, James, and remain, as I do, incomprehensible: to be great is to be misunderstood.” — Oscar Wilde
Song for Richard (Manuel)
So sad, so sad R. Manuel
It broke our hearts in ways we cannot tell
The why of it we’ll never know
We nearly drowned in streams of woe
Pray tell, pray tell, dear Richard Manuel
Rememb’ring leaves an empty, broken shell
Levon Helm’s “This Wheel’s On Fire” begins with this tragic incident and its impact on The Band. The memory was resurrected as I listened to Dylan sing “This Wheel’s On Fire” which begins:
If your memory serves you well
We were going to meet again and wait
So I’m going to unpack all my things
And sit before it gets too late
No man alive will come to you
With another tale to tell
But you know that we shall meet again
If your memory serves you well
